JAKARTA. PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, says that up to 15 exploration wells may be developed to exploit oil reserves in Cabang Bungin and Sukawangi districts in the West Java regency of Bekasi, with potential production topping 5,000 barrels per day (bpd).“Based on the result of our geological and geophysics study, we may develop up to between 10 and 15 exploration wells in 2012 in Jaya Bakti and Sindang Java villages in Cabang Bungin district and Sukaringin village in Sukawangi district, or at the Pondok Makmur field,” Pondok Makmur oil field operation services manager Heri Budiarso said in Cikarang, West Java, on Friday. Each well was forecast to be capable of producing oil for the next 15 years, and combined might produce over 5,000 bpd during the period, he said. The Pondok Makmur field was equipped with facilities allowing it to produce up to 7,500 bpd, Heri added.Pertamina EP is currently developing three new exploration wells in the area, he said, adding that this was in addition to seven that had been built and had already begun producing between 1,500 and 2,500 bpd. “Officers are now drilling at a depth of 2,850 meters, and we predict they will stop at the depth of 3,500 meters underground,” he said. The Bekasi field is also estimated to be able to produce up to 5.5 mmscfd of gas.
