165 students miss 1st day exam in Jakarta



JAKARTA. A total of 165 high school-level students were not present on the first day of the National Examination (UN) in Jakarta, an official said on Monday.

Jakarta Education Agency deputy head Agus Suradika said that most of the students did not attend their first day of examination because of illness and some had gone AWOL.

“Those who were not in attendance on Monday still have the opportunity to take the follow-up examination next week,” he said.


Of the students who were not present on Monday, a total of 44 students reportedly withdrew due to illness, nine pulled out with official permission, 96 were absent without official leave and 16 others had been submitted to the national soccer camp in Paraguay.

The exams run from April 16 to 19. In order to pass the exam, students have to score a minimum of four in each subject, while their average score in the test, school exams and reports should be above 5.5. (asa/TheJakartaPost)
