The Jakarta Sanitation Agency will deploy 900 sanitation workers in five places throughout Jakarta for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations.Agency head Unu Nurdin said the deployment was different than last year, in which the workers focused on cleaning Jl. Jenderal Sudirman and Jl. MH Thamrin, as Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had asked all mayors to hold events in their own localities this year.“The workers will start cleaning after the event ends or at 2 a.m.,” said Unu on Saturday, as quoted by kompas.com.Besides the Sudirman-Thamrin area, the five venues include National Monument (Monas) Square, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) cultural park in East Jakarta, Ancol beach in North Jakarta, Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta and Fatahillah Park in West Jakarta.The agency would also provide additional trash trucks and mobile toilets at each venue, Unu said.For the Sudirman-Thamrin area, where the Jakarta Night Festival will take place, Uni said that the agency would deploy 330 workers with 20 supervisors, 22 garbage trucks and six portable toilets.The agency will provide 100 workers, 10 garbage trucks and nine portable toilets in Monas square, 52 workers, two garbage trucks and two pick-up trucks in TMII.Unu said he would deploy 156 workers, 23 garbage trucks and two portable toilets to Ancol, and a larger team of 200 workers, 10 garbage trucks and two portable toilets to Ragunan Zoo.Meanwhile, 393 workers would be responsible for cleaning Fatahillah Park, he said, adding that Bantargebang sanitary landfill in Bekasi would operate during and after the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
