AGO confiscates 17 trucks of wealthy tax official

JAKARTA. Attorney General’s Office (AGO) spokesperson M. Adi Toegarisman said on Thursday that the AGO had confiscated 17 trucks owned by Dhana Widyatmika, a young tax official charged with accepting bribes and gratuities, as evidence.

“Last night [on Wednesday] our investigators confiscated 17 various types of trucks, which we cannot mention one by one,” Adi said in Jakarta.

He said that the trucks were currently parked at the government’s confinement house (rubasan).

Reports said that Dhana bought the trucks from his illegitimate money and used them for business.

Dhana was named a suspect last week after the AGO received information from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) that he was suspected of having Rp 60 billion (US$6.6 million) in several bank accounts.

The AGO announced that it was currently questioning several witnesses: Jamaludin, the owner of PT. Mobilindo 88, which was the company where Dhana bought the trucks, as well as a Finance Ministry inspectorate general technical operator, Sofandi Arifin.

Dhana’s wife, Dian Anggraini, also a tax official, was absent from Thursday’s questioning session for unknown reasons. The AGO will reschedule Dian’s questioning. (Rabby Pramudatama/ The Jakarta Post)
