JAKARTA. The Jakarta Administration will postpone the eviction of illegal settlements in the Luar Batang area of North Jakarta, initially planned for May, because of a lack of available low-cost apartments to accommodate the evictees. The city planned to clean out the area in May following the first stage of evictions at Pasar Ikan in the beginning of April. However, subsidized apartments, commonly known as rusunawa, have not yet been prepared to accommodate the relocated people, Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama said on Tuesday. Ika Lestari Aji, head of the Jakarta Housing and Public Buildings Agency, said that 400 apartments at Rawa Bebek in the Penjaringan subdistrict of North Jakarta would only be ready in September.
