AirAsia, Airbus tie the knot in RI

JAKARTA. Low-cost carrier AirAsia has decided to only use the Airbus 320 for its entire fleet in a bid to improve efficiency.

“The plane (Airbus 320) has 15 percent fuel efficiency,” Air Asia Indonesia president director Dharmadi said Tuesday in a press statement.

Dharmadi said another advantage of the plane was its broad aisle, better lighting and quieter operations.

He added that by implementing the single fleet policy, his company would be able to reduce air crew training costs.

“That also goes to spare parts. We only have to provide spare parts for one type of plane,” Dharmadi said.

The company currently operates 17 Airbus 320 and plans to add four more planes this year. (The Jakarta Post)
