State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has improved security at baggage-handling locations by installing more closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, following the alleged theft case involving budget airline Lion Air’s baggage handlers and security staff. According to AP II president director Budi Karya Sumadi, the company aimed to increase CCTV coverage by 30 percent in the airport to minimize the potential risk of similar incidents occurring again in the future. "AP II has made efforts to tighten security to eliminate potential losses or damage to passengers’ luggage by increasing CCTV by 30 percent to broaden coverage 24 hours. We are also working closely with the police on this," said Budi in a press statement received by thejakartapost.com on Wednesday.
