Asian Agri must pay Rp1.96t fine

JAKARTA. The Finance Ministry’s taxation office director general Fuad Rahmany has said that palm oil company Asian Agri must pay its Rp 1,96 trillion (US$170.52 million) tax fine.

Fuad said that the taxation directorate general had rejected Asian Agri’s objection letter that was recently submitted.

“So, they [Asian Agri] must pay their fine,” he said on Tuesday.

Fuad further said that the fine imposed on company was legally binding because it was issued through an official ruling from the Supreme Court.

In early September, Asian Agri submitted an objection letter to the taxation directorate general over the fine because it was a significantly higher than its net profit of Rp 1.24 trillion.
