KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. The conglomerate issuer PT Astra International Tbk (
ASII) has reported a decline in car sales during the period of January to March 2024. Consequently, Astra's market share has also experienced a decrease. As of March 2024, Astra's total car sales reached 119,662 units, a decrease of 20.22% year on year (YoY). In contrast, in the first quarter of 2023, Astra's car sales reached 150,006 units. The breakdown of car sales includes Toyota and Lexus brands reaching 66,338 by March 2024. Daihatsu brand reached 45,003 units, Isuzu sold 6,846 units, UD Trucks sold 452 units, and Peugeot sold 23 units.
During the same period, Astra's Low-Cost Green Car (LCGC) sales reached 36,405 units. This is a correction of 8.11% annually from sales in March 2022, which reached 39,620 units. When compared with the market share indicator, ASII has actually increased. Astra's market share reached 53% in March 2023 and rose to 56% in March 2023. The decline in Astra's car sales is also in line with the decline in domestic sales. As of March 2024, total four-wheel vehicle sales in Indonesia reached 215,069 units, a decrease of 23.76% annually. Astra's Head of Corporate Communications, Boy Kelana Soebroto, reported that on a month-to-month (MoM) basis, Astra's car sales reached 40,428 units with a market share of 54% in March 2024.
Boy stated that they will continue to strive to support the domestic automotive industry by providing a variety of vehicle options that suit consumer interests and needs. "As well as the development of a capable electrification ecosystem, in order to contribute to the growth of the national automotive market," he said in a statement received by Kontan on Wednesday (17/4).
