Bali prepares for extra flight at Chinese New Year



JAKARTA. Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali is preparing for the arrival and departure of 34 extra flights to anticipate surging demand from passengers during Chinese New Year.

“We are coordinating intensively with carriers so that we can provide better services to passengers and maintain the carriers’ on time performance,” state run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) Ngurah Rai office general manager Herry AY Sikado said in Denpasar on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.

Herry said that the 34 extra flights amounted to 8,364 extra seats.


He said that Hong Kong Airlines was the carrier providing the most seats during the holiday with 14 extra flights from Denpasar to Hong Kong this week, or 3,962 extra seats.

Cathay Pacific comes second with three extra flights to Hong Kong, which translates into 951 passenger seats.

Besides Hong Kong, he said that a number of airlines such as China Eastern, China Southern and Xianmen Airlines would connect the Island of the Gods with Beijing, Shenzhen and Xianmen this week.
