KONTAN.CO.ID - Indonesian energy billionaire Low Tuck Kwong, together with his daughter Elaine Low, has officially signed a landmark Conditional Sale and Purchase of Shares Agreement to offload a massive tranche of their holdings in coal mining titan PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN).

The regulatory disclosure released on Thursday (17/9/2026) confirms that the binding framework outlines the reallocation of 10,000,000,500 corporate common shares directly to PT Jhonlin Baratama, a prominent domestic mining conglomerate controlled by influential tycoon Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad, widely known as Haji Isam.

BYAN Director Jenny Quantero verified that the final execution remains strictly contingent upon the satisfaction of specific preliminary corporate conditions.

Formalizing the Haji Isam Acquisition Speculation

The corporate filing effectively firms up aggressive market speculation that has swirled across Southeast Asian trading desks since August 2026, when rumors first surfaced that Haji Isam was positioning to absorb a substantial 62% equity block owned by the Low family.

Market interest peaked after both tycoons were spotted inspecting BYAN’s core open-cast assets in Kutai Kartanegara, East Java.

Despite the monumental volume of equity shifting hands, BYAN’s board assured international clearinghouses that the ownership transfer introduces no material friction.

"The transaction does not trigger negative material impacts capable of disrupting operational capabilities, legal standing, or fiscal continuity," Quantero added in the statement.

Equity Distress vs. High-Volume Consolidation

Following the official announcement, BYAN shares ticked upward by 1.14% on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) to close at Rp 11,525 per share.

However, the long-term chart paints a more challenging picture, with the stock reflecting a 26.59% year-to-date collapse.

The equity had plummeted roughly 41% between August 19 and September 15 due to broader macroeconomic commodity headwinds and localized permit blocks.

For global resource funds and institutional traders, the entrance of Jhonlin Baratama as a definitive buyer establishes a solid valuation floor for the asset.
