JAKARTA. Bank Indonesia (BI) is set to announce the results of its board of governors’ meeting (RDG) for the first quarter of 2014 on Thursday, including whether the bank would increase or decrease its benchmark interest rate. Given the fact that Indonesia's economic growth fell to 5.21 percent in the first quarter of the year, compared to 5.7 percent in the same period last year, University of Indonesia economic expert Lana Soelistianingsih said that, ideally, the BI rate should be decreased. However, she added that the economic slowdown would be temporary.
