BPK issues qualified opinion for govt 2010 financial report

JAKARTA. The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has issued a qualified opinion in its review of the central government's 2010 financial report, in which it said only a few problems were found.

A qualified opinion means the financial report, for one of two reasons, fails to comply with generally accepted accounting principles, but its contents are presented fairly.

BPK chief Hadi Purnomo praised the government for its consistency in upholding accountability and transparency through its financial report.

The government's 2009 financial report also received a qualified opinion.

"We appreciate the government’s efforts to follow our recommendations, and have seen many improvements in its latest financial report," Hadi told legislators at a House of Representatives' plenary session on Tuesday. (Rangga D. Fadhilah/The Jakarta Post)
