The BPS had previously announced that 37 out of 66 surveyed municipalities in the archipelago suffered inflation in May. The highest overall inflation occurred in Pontianak, West Kalimantan with 0.93 percent, while the lowest rate was in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan at 0.04 percent. "Inflation went up primarily due to the rising price indeces on food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco commodities of 0.40 percent," BPS head Suryamin told a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
