CPO price raised in Jambi

Jambi. The price of crude palm oil (CPO) in Jambi is set at Rp 6,045 per kilogram for the period of January 22-28 or an increase of Rp 116 per kg from the previous week's level.

"In the past month, the prices of CPO, and fresh fruit bunches (FFB) have increased from week to week," Putri Rainun, an official setting the selling price of FFB in bunches in Jambi, said.

A special team representing the government and oil palm plantation companies sets the selling price of FFB to follow the CPO price developments in international market.

The price of FFB from three-year old trees rose lightly by Rp 19 to Rp 1,047 per kg this week and that of FFB from 10-20 year old tree was the highest set at Rp 1,338 per kg. The prices are lower from older trees.

Meanwhile, the price of palm kernel also rose -- from Rp 4,414 to Rp 4,438 per kg.

Indonesia is the world's largest producer of palm oil and Jambi is one of the major producing regions in the country.

The price of CPO has remained law in the past several years on weak demand in international market especially in China. (AS/f001)
