The Indonesian Franchise Association (AFI) is targeting combined revenues of Rp 135.4 trillion (approximately US$15.84 billion) this year for the country’s franchise businesses, an 18 percent increase from 2010.AFI chairman Anang Sukandar said in Jakarta on Friday that food franchises were still expected to be the greatest contributors to revenue.He said last year food franchises in Indonesia contributed Rp 42.6 trillion to total franchise industry revenues of Rp 114.6 trillion, while this year the figure was targeted to rise 13% to Rp 49 trillion.He said mini-market chains were expected to be the second largest franchise industry this year with sector revenues targeted to reach Rp 38 trillion, up from Rp 31.5 trillion in 2010.“We are optimistic about achieving the higher target this year because we’ve observed increasing public purchasing power,” Anang said.Anang was speaking at the opening of the three-day International Franchise, License and Business Concept Expo (IFRA) at the Jakarta Convention Center.
