Garuda to fly Italy in 2014

JAKARTA. National carrier PT Garuda Indonesia is planning to launch a new route serving direct flights from Indonesia to Italy in 2014.

“The new route to Italy is part of Garuda’s plans to expand its routes in Europe,” Garuda executive director Emirsyah Satar said Tuesday in Jakarta.

Emirsyah said that the airline also planned to open new direct flights to the U.K., Germany and France, adding that the company would need seven more airplanes to fly to the European countries.

“We have ordered seven Boeing 777 airplanes, two of which will arrive in 2013, while the rest are expected in 2014,” he said as quoted by Antara.
