Harita Nickel (NCKL) Targets Production of 120,000 Tons of Ferronickel by 2024

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) or Harita Nickel is targeting a ferronickel (FeNi) production of 120,000 tons this year.

Trimegah's CEO, Roy Arman Arfandy, revealed that the production target is supported by two Rotary Kiln Electric Furnace (RKEF) smelters owned by the company.

"Achieved through the Megah Surya Pertiwi (MSP) smelter with a capacity of 25,000 tons (FeNi) and Halmahera Jaya Feronikel (HJF) with a capacity of 95,000 tons FeNi," Roy told Kontan on Wednesday (7/2).

NCKL is also targeting a production of 55,000 tons of nickel content in MHP through Halmahera Persada Lygend (HPL). MHP production is projected to increase following the operation of Obi Nickel Cobalt (ONC) which has an installed capacity of 65,000 tons of nickel content in MHP.

Roy explained that the nickel outlook this year is influenced by several factors such as the global demand for stainless steel products and the growth of electric vehicle sales.

According to him, the need for high-grade and low-grade nickel ore derivative products is still potential.

"However, the challenging current macroeconomic conditions, coupled with the high growth of nickel production in Indonesia, also affect the global nickel market," Roy continued.

His party expects the emergence of an improvement in global economic conditions that will drive the demand for nickel derivative products and improve the overall nickel prospects.
