Hyundai Motor Company immediately built a factory in Indonesia

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) immediately realized its investment in Indonesia. Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto revealed the plan after meeting with HMC Executive Vice President Park Hong Jae in Seoul last Tuesday (6/25).

"Hyundai has confirmed its commitment to start investing in Indonesia immediately," Airlangga said.

According to Airlangga, the Hyundai factory in Indonesia will start production in 2021. Its production capacity reaches 70,000 to 250,000 vehicles per year. They will produce SUVs, MPVs, hatchbacks, and sedans.

Hyundai will market 47 percent of factory production in the domestic market and 53 percent for the export market, Airlangga said through a press statement on Sunday (30/6).

Hyundai has not revealed the location of its factory in Indonesia. This factory can absorb 3,500 workers. Hyundai views Indonesia as a production base to meet the needs of the domestic and export markets.

PT Hyundai Motor Indonesia's President Director Mukiat Sutikno has not been able to explain in detail the plans of the parent company. "We have not received detailed information because the information came directly from Minister Airlangga and the Korean side," he told KONTAN yesterday.
