Indonesia Manufacturing Industry Exports Reach US$ 186.98 Billion in 2023



KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) recorded that the export of the manufacturing sector of Indonesia reached US$ 186.98 billion or contributed 72.24% of the total national export value of US$ 258.82 billion in 2023.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, the realization of manufacturing industry exports during January-December 2023 exceeded the set target, which was previously projected at around USD186.40 billion.

“For 2024, we are targeting US$ 193.4 billion. We are optimistic that it can be achieved,” said Agus in a press release, quoted on Thursday (15/2).

Agus said, manufacturing products remain the highest, thus contributing to the growth of the Indonesian economy.

According to him, the manufacturing industry has proven to be consistently the largest contributor in boosting national export performance.

"Therefore, we are determined to increase the export value of manufacturing products, including adding to the diversification of its products, which of course have competitiveness and high added value,” he said.

The Minister of Industry explained, if the achievement of manufacturing product exports continues to skyrocket, it will strengthen the trade balance and can boost national economic growth.

“Therefore, an adaptive, responsive, and collaborative strategy is needed, which is carried out in an integrated manner. Moreover, to boost these exports, the President has formed a Task Force to Increase Exports,” he said.

The task of this task force, as stipulated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 24 of 2023 concerning the National Export Improvement Task Force. This task force consists of a Steering Team chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, and there is an Implementation Team.

“The tasks of the implementation team, among others, are to develop export resources and industries including increasing productivity and competitiveness, and to establish a strategy to increase the role of micro, small, and medium enterprises by integrating them into the national export provider ecosystem,” said Agus.
