Indonesia October Trade Surplus Widens to $5.7 Billion, Above Forecast



KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Indonesia's trade surplus unexpectedly widened in October from a month earlier to reach $5.67 billion, as imports were below expectation, statistics bureau data showed on Tuesday.

The resource-rich nation was expected to book an October surplus of $4.5 billion according to a Reuters poll of economists. The surplus in September was worth $4.99 billion.

October exports were up 12.3% on a yearly basis to $24.81 billion, while imports were up 17.44% on a yearly basis to $19.14 billion, off from a forecast rise of 23.62%.
