Indonesian Rice Stocks for Ramadan and Ied, Remaining 1.4 mil. tons

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Perum Bulog ensures that the rice stock for Ramadan and Eid 2024 is sufficient.

Bulog's Director of Supply Chain and Public Services, Mokhamad Suyamto, said that the current government's rice reserve stock (CBP) controlled by Bulog has reached a safe stock of 1.4 million tons.

Then this stock is still added with 1.5 million tons of leftover import assignments from last year.

"So the amount is very sufficient for distribution needs both for fasting and Eid needs as well as food aid distribution until June,” said Suyamto in his statement on Monday (26/2).

Suyamto added that Bulog will continue to make positive maneuvers in response to the still fluctuating rice prices by carrying out all assignments from the government.

Some of the things done are the distribution of Food Aid of 10 kg per beneficiary family (KPM) for 22 million KPM from January to June.

Furthermore, Bulog continues to roll out the Supply and Food Price Stabilization (SPHP) program which is distributed to wholesale markets, traditional markets, and modern retail. His party also increased the distribution of SPHP from 200,000 to 250,000 tons per month.

"Then Bulog also intervenes through the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) which goes directly to residential areas or crowded places”, said Suyamto.

Suyamto explained that it does take time to achieve price balance at both the producer and consumer levels, but this has been well calculated by the government. So the community does not need to worry about the price and availability of food, especially this rice.

"The government continues to take quick response actions to the economic impact caused by the El-Nino climate change that is currently hitting the world," he concluded.
