JAKARTA. The groundbreaking of the constructions of apartments in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta has been delayed as the Jakarta city administration faces a number of challenges, including opposition from Vice President Jusuf Kalla and members of the House of Representatives. “Pak JK [Jusuf Kalla) told President [Joko “Jokowi” Widodo] that the land in Kemayoran is a state asset that could not be developed into luxury apartments. The land should be for soccer fields and low-cost apartments,” said Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama as reported by kompas.com on Wednesday. He also said members of the House’s Commission II had also expressed opposition to the planned apartment construction when they held a hearing with State Secretary Pratikno on Sept. 21.
