KPK summons former secretary to sports minister

JAKARTA. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will summons former youth and sports minister Andri Mallarangeng’s secretary Iim Rohimah as a witness in the Hambalang graft investigation.

KPK media and information chief Priharsa Nugraha said as quoted by kompas.com that besides Iim, the commission would also question the ministry's deputy V Lalu Wildan and fellow ministry staff member Andi Farid Akbar. All of them will be questioned as witnesses in the case.

The questioning of Iim is based on a statement by Hambalang project tender chief committee Wisler Manalu.

According to Wisler, Iim knows the details of the meetings on Hambalang that involve former minister Andi.

Andi was named a suspect by the KPK for his alleged involvement in the Hambalang case, after which he resigned as minister and was replaced by Roy Suryo.

Both Andi and Roy are politicians of the Democratic Party, currently chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Yudhoyono took over the party chairmanship after ousting Anas Urbaningrum, who has also been named a suspect in the case.

The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) estimated in October 2012 that the Hambalang graft scandal cost the state at least Rp 243 billion in losses. (The Jakarta Post)
