KPU to restrict campaign banners during elections



JAKARTA. The General Election Commission (KPU) has announced its intention to restrict the use and locations of campaign banners for the 2014 general elections.“We will propose that there will be only two banners in certain locations in every subdistrict,” KPU commissioner Ida Budhiati said in Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.He added that the restriction was meant to ensure equality for all participants.She added that places like hospitals, places of worships, schools and parks were among the areas where campaign paraphernalia would be strictly prohibited.For every election, campaign banners are erected without concern for public safety.
