KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed readiness to mediate peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Erdogan conveyed this after receiving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at his office on Friday (8/3). "I am pleased to host the Ukrainian President Mr. Zelensky in our country again, after last July," Erdogan wrote on his Instagram account.
Erdogan hopes that the consultation between him and Zelensky will be beneficial for all mankind, especially for the Turkish people. He recounted that the meeting discussed in detail the development of the Ukraine-Russia war that has been going on for the last two years. "I reaffirmed our support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of our strategic partner, Ukraine," he said. From the beginning, Turkey has been contributing to ending the war based on negotiations. "We are also ready to host a peace summit involving Russia," he said.
The Black Sea Initiative prevents a global food crisis by providing nearly 33 million tons of grain to the global market. Erdogan affirmed that Turkey is ready to provide the best support as before if there is an intention to reach an agreement among the parties again.
Turkey claims that bilateral trade with Ukraine remains stable even though this trading partner is at war.
"We agreed to increase our efforts to achieve our goal of US$ 10 billion," he said. Erdogan also promised support for Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. He mentioned the presence of Crimean Tatars in Ukraine as one of the important factors that strengthen the friendship between the two countries. In the future, in addition to continuing Turkey's solidarity with Ukraine, Erdogan will continue our efforts to end the war with peace based on fair negotiations.
