Acting governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said on Monday he had approved the new minimum wage, setting it at Rp 2.7 million. “The new minimum wage will be announced tomorrow [Tuesday],” he told reporters after attending the Muhammadiyah Students Association (IPM) congress in Ciracas, East Jakarta, on Monday evening. The decision was made after a divided minimum wage forum proposed two options, with the employers proposing Rp 2.53 million and the workers union Rp 3.5 million for the new minimum wage to the acting governor.
