One Indonesian died, another injured in Bangkok

JAKARTA. The Indonesian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Tuesday that two Indonesians were victims in a bomb explosion in Bangkok, Thailand. One of them is dead.

The official twitter account of the ministry announced the news on Tuesday noon.

“Govt has learned 1 Indonesian national killed and 1 injured in ICU #Bangkok Bombing #prayforbangkok,” the account under the name @Portal_Kemlu_RI said.

At least 18 people were killed and many injured when a bomb exploded Monday outside a popular religious shrine in Bangkok, scattering body parts and debris across the city's commercial core, AP reported.

The blast hit around 6:30 p.m. when the shrine was packed with worshipers and tourists -- although it was not possible to immediately confirm if there were foreign casualties.
