JAKARTA. The joint operating body (JOB) of Pertamina-Petrochina East Java (PPEJ) has prepared a location for the expansion of Sukowati C block in Trucuk district, Bojonegoro regency, East Java, in an effort to boost production of the oil block, an official said.

“We are preparing land to develop the Sukowati C block as we have obtained a location permit for the development of the oil block in Trucuk district from the Bogor regency administration,” said JOB PPEJ field manager Junizar Dipodiwirjo as quoted by Antara in Bojonegoro on Thursday.

Therefore, he said, the body had started to prepare various permit processes, including obtaining environmental management and monitoring scheme (UPL) documents.

“We are coordinating other measures on the development of the Sukowati C block with the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force [SKKMigas],” said Junizar.

He said he did not know yet which village in the Trucuk district would be selected as the location for the development of the Sukowati C block. “The land needed is around 4.6 hectares,” he added.

Junizar further explained that the development of the Sukowati C block was an effort to increase the oil block’s production, which had continued to decline.

According to data, the amount of oil coming from the Sukowati A block in Campurejo and the Sukowati B block in Ngampel – both in the Kota district – and the Mudi block in Soko district, Tuban, which cover 59 oil wells, reaches around 19,000 barrels per day, down from around 22,000 the previous year.

“Declines in production from oil wells in the Sukowati and Mudi blocks are natural,” said Junizar.

However, he said, the Sukowati block still had around 150 million barrels of oil that had not yet been exploited.

“According to data, there is still a potential oil reserve of around 150 million barrels but technically, only around 30-40 percent of the total can be explored,” said Junizar.
