PGN says leaking gas pipe to begin function again on Wednesday

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. State-owned gas company Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) said it had been repairing a leaking gas pipe in East Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon, after a police line was removed from the scene of the accident.

PGN’s gas pipe, located under the road of Jl. MT Haryono in Cawang, began leaking after the operator of the light rapid transit (LRT) project connecting Cawang to Dukuh Atas in South Jakarta drilled into the ground and damaged the pipe.

PGN corporate secretary Rachmat Hutama said the firm had coordinated with LRT contractor Adhi Karya, while PGN will focus on repairing the gas pipe as the police line had been removed on Tuesday afternoon.

“We estimate that the repair will be completed by March 14,” Rachmat said.

He added that customers affected by the accident who live in Bidara Cina low-cost apartments and Kalibata apartments have begun to receive gas again, which was temporarily stopped because of the accident. (Winda A. Charmila)
