After imposing fines against motorists who drive in the Transjakarta bus lanes, the Jakarta Traffic Police has said it would start writing tickets for other common traffic violations.Head of the traffic police’s law enforcement unit Adj. Sr. Comr. Hindarsono said on Sunday that it would start tackling illegal parking, wrong-way driving and picking up and dropping off passengers not at bus stops.“It is important to punish these three offenses because they cause traffic congestion and put other motorists in danger,” he was quoted as saying by tribunnews.com.Motorcyclists are currently being fined Rp 500,000 (US$45) for illegally using the bus lane, while drivers have to pay Rp 1 million.“We are now in discussions to consider enforcing more offenses,” Hindarsono said.
