KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his condolences over the passing of the eighth President of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang.

"I am sad to hear this news because I just met him on September 11, 2018. I am impressed by his dedication to the country and people of Vietnam," wrote President Jokowi on his personal Instagram account on Saturday morning (9/22).

During a visit to Hanoi some time ago, Jokowi received a warm welcome from President Tran Dai Quang. Both also discussed increasing cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam.

"My prayers are for the family, colleagues and people of Vietnam," the president said.

Vietnam's official news agency had previously provided information that the President of Vietnam had passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 10:05 local time. (Translator: Barratut Taqiyyah Rafie)
