Press Council meets Indonesia’s seventh president

JAKARTA. Press Council chairman Bagir Manan visited Jakarta City Hall on Monday to meet outgoing Jakarta Governor and president-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo for discussions on journalism.

“He has to know everything related to the Press Council and how our journalists work,” he told reporters after the meeting as quoted by tempo.co.

Bagir added that that the meeting was important because journalists would report on Jokowi’s performance as the country’s seventh president after the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) inaugurates him on Oct. 20.

Bagir, along with members of the Press Council including Ninok Leksono and Nezar Patria, arrived at the Hall at 10 a.m. (alz)
