Rupiah Spot Strengthens 0.36% to Rp 16,026 per US Dollar on Monday (5/6)



KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. NEW YORK. The Indonesian Rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,026 per US dollar at the end of trading on Monday (5/6), strengthening by 0.36% from the end of last week when it stood at Rp 16,083 per US dollar.

In Asia, the Rupiah recorded the largest appreciation against the US dollar this afternoon. In addition to the Rupiah, several other currencies also strengthened against the US dollar.  At 3:00 PM local time, the Korean Won strengthened by 0.29%.

Then, the Philippine Peso appreciated by 0.24%, and the Taiwanese Dollar strengthened by 0.01% against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the majority of other Asian currencies weakened against the US dollar. The Japanese Yen recorded the deepest depreciation at 0.51%, followed by the Singapore Dollar which weakened by 0.19%, the Thai Baht depreciated by 0.10%, the Hong Kong Dollar weakened by 0.06%.

Then, the Malaysian Ringgit depreciated by 0.06%, and the Indian Rupee weakened by 0.05% against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which reflects the exchange rate of the US dollar against the world's major currencies, stood at 105.12, up from the end of last week when it was at 105.03.
