Sandi vows to create 200,000 new entrepreneurs

JAKARTA. Jakarta deputy governor candidate Sandiaga “Sandi” Uno said he intends to create 200,000 new, young entrepreneurs in the city should he secure the victory in the 2017 election.

"We set a target that in each subdistrict, there will be at least one center of entrepreneurship. So next year there will be 200,000 new entrepreneurs in the city," Sandi said at Gelanggang Remaja in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Sandi added that digital technology would be a promising sector for young people to start their business.

“Creative sectors like fashion, tourism and cuisine will become the backbone of the city's economy in the future,” he added.

To prepare the young entrepreneurs, Sandi planned to provide business training and internships for them, starting at the high school level.

Once they begin their business, the administration will mentor, assist through funds and provide facilities to the new entrepreneurs, Sandi said. (Callistasia Anggun Wijaya)
