KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. The number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) will be further reduced. The government through the Ministry of SOEs will cut the number of SOE companies to under 40 companies. 

Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said, the reduction of the number of SOEs is included in the transformation process of SOEs carried out by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir and other SOE ranks from 2019. 

The reduction in the number of SOEs is indicated by the presence of holding, merger, clustering, streamlining, and among them the handling of problematic SOEs. 

Currently, the number of SOEs under the Ministry of SOEs is as many as 45 SOEs. "Our final target is to have less than 40 SOEs clustered into 12 clusters," said Tiko in a press release received by Kontan, Friday (29/12).

Most recently, the Ministry of SOEs has announced the latest update on the progress of the dissolution of 7 because they are no longer able to perform their role in contributing to the national economy.

The 7 SOEs that were dissolved are:  

1. PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero) (In Bankruptcy), 

2. PT Kertas Leces (Persero) (In Bankruptcy), 

3. PT Istaka Karya (Persero) (In Bankruptcy), 

4. PT Industri Sandang Nusantara (Persero) (“ISN”), 

5. PT Kertas Kraft Aceh (Persero) (“KKA”), 

6. PT Industri Gelas (Persero) (“IGLAS”), 

7. PT Pengembangan Armada Niaga Nasional (Persero) (“PANN”).
