KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA.  JAKARTA. The Indonesian rupiah closed at a level of Rp 16,046 per US dollar at the end of trading on Tuesday (7/5), depreciating by 0.13% from the previous day's level of Rp 16,026 per US dollar.

In Asia, the majority of currencies weakened against the US dollar this afternoon. The Rupiah recorded the deepest depreciation of 0.13%, followed by the Singapore dollar which weakened by 0.12%, the Chinese yuan depreciated by 0.08%, the Japanese yen weakened by 0.07%, the Korean won depreciated by 0.06%, and the Taiwan dollar weakened by 0.06%.

The Thai baht depreciated by 0.05%, the Philippine peso weakened by 0.02%, the Hong Kong dollar depreciated by 0.01% and the Indian rupee weakened by 0.005% against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian ringgit was the only Asian currency to strengthen against the US dollar this afternoon, with an appreciation of 0.03%.

In the meantime, the dollar index, which reflects the exchange rate of the US dollar against the world's major currencies, stood at 105.19, up from the previous day's level of 105.05.
