Dwi Priyatno said on Monday that the number of traffic accidents fell significantly during the recent weeklong Idul Fitri holiday thanks to improved discipline among drivers. He added that eight people lost their lives, 38 suffered serious injuries and 55 sustained minor injuries in the 73 total traffic accidents that occurred in the city between July 22 and Aug. 2. “Based on last night’s evaluation, the number of accidents decreased significantly, by around 30 percent,” Dwi told reporters at Police headquarters.
