Transjakarta feeder bus overturned in S. Jakarta

JAKARTA. A Transjakarta feeder bus has overturned after ramming into a lane divider in front of the Inti Fauzi building on Jl. Warung Buncit in South Jakarta on Tuesday morning.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the accident, since the bus traveling from Ragunan to the Pejaten Village bus stop was empty.

Traffic police announced via twitter that officers had been deployed to help direct the traffic amid gridlock as many motorists slowed down their vehicles near the site of the accident.

In another incident on the same day, a Transjakarta bus hit a railway boom gate in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, at 3:40 a.m.

Both the boom gate and the bus were severely damaged.

An eyewitness, Rahmat, said the bus, plying the Kampung Melayu-Ancol route, ran at full speed on the slow lane instead of running on the dedicated busway lane. The roof of the bus was ripped through as a result of the accident.

“The driver kept speeding the bus, pushing to get through,” Rahmat was quoted as saying by beritajakarta.com.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.
