Xiaomi Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus launched in Jakarta



KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Beijing-based tech company Xiaomi officially launched two of its latest models, the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

With a full-screen display in 18:9 ratio, the phones are reportedly able to display more content compared to regular 16:9 ratio displays, allowing for a better user experience when watching videos or playing games.

"We have received many positive responses for this full-screen display technology that we popularized in 2016," Xiaomi Indonesia and Xiaomi regional South Pacific head Steven Shi told Antara on Wednesday.


The Redmi 5 Plus boasts a 5.99-inch display while the Redmi 5 comes with a 5.7-inch display. Performance-wise, the former features the Snapdragon 625 2.0 GHz chipset and 4,000 mAh battery, while the latter has the Snapdragon 450, 1.8GHz and 3,300 mAh. Both phones are equipped with a 12-megapixel main camera. 

For such technology, the Redmi 5 will be available starting at Rp 1,699,000 (US$125), which comes with 2 GB RAM and 16GB storage. The Plus version is priced at Rp 2,199,000 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Both are available starting Feb. 22.
